The Head popped a head round the doorway
to see why a din was being made
nodded understandingly
then tossed in a grenade

with blood on every chair

with its hands up in the air
The teacher surveyed the carnage
the dying and the dead
He waggled a finger severely
‘Now let that be a lesson’ he said
a) The figurative language is used to describe the students being killed such as "collapsed like rubber dinghies" which describes that the students were very weak and had no strength to stand up.
b) I like this poem as it describe the act of killing very specifically and is very interesting as I had never seen a poem about a teacher killing his students.

Tuition @ Delta Avenue
About a month ago, I started going to a "tuition centre" in Delta Avenue 5 to teach and take care of the children there who usually come from poor families and their parents sent them there.
The first time I went there was quite a pleasant experience. We introduced ourselves to the children and played with them. I was lucky as the sporty kid I was assigned to did not have any homework to do, so we just played lego for and hour and went outside to play badminton for the rest of the session.
The second time I went there was not a pleasant one, I was assigned to a very playful girl who did not want to do her homework. She claimed that she did not know how to do every single question of her homework, which was alot. So, I explained to her every SINGLE question, which took about 3 hours, but during my explanation, she did not listen to what I was saying and rushed me to give her the correct answer. She kept telling me that she did not want to do and wanted to play, so I gave her some breaks in between. During that break, I saw Jerry and another kid quarrelling with each other, even though Jerry pratically did nothing to irritate him. Both times when I go to Delta Avenue, I always lose something, like a ruler, but I don't really care.
In conclusion, these trips to Delta Avenue was a fruitful and enriching experience, not only was I able to help the children who come from poor families, I was also able to revise my primary school maths and english, killing two birds with one stone.

SMO Junior 2009
Phew! I finally finished last year's SMO Junior Paper! It took me about 10 hours to finish! Only now then I noticed how hard SMO is...( I couldn't even understand most of the questions!) And this years SMO is held next month! I think I will be kicked out from the MOP class as there was a smb message saying that the MOP teachers will select students by their results of the upcoming SMO to stay in the MOP class for term 3.
Tommorrow is my IH and LSS test and I haven't revise much... and I haven't really done any ACE projects and the deadline for ACE points is next week! Unlucky for me, IH and LSS test expects us to remember facts and not like maths... Hmm, I think I will rush for ACE now... Even if I failed this 2 test, how bad could my MSG be?(I hope less than 4).
By the way, I can't believe that my maths teacher gave me 1 ACE point for doing a simple mindmap which is compulsory for all students during the e-learning week! Also, my chinese teacher said that we can get 1 ACE point if we arrange our chinese file neatly. Bye for now, I have to go arrange my file to get some easy ACE points.

STRESSED OUT!
During this few weeks I am very busy, not only do I have to revise for tests, I also have to plan for the upcoming open house on 15th May. About two weeks ago, I received my maths test results, I only got 75%! Compared to the previous test result, I deproved by 25%! I regretted not revising for the test as I was too busy playing "DotA".
I have tried cutting down my computer time, but I realised that I needed to use the computer for almost everything and whenever I see the computer I get tempted to play DotA. Today, I just had my chinese test and IS test, it was very very difficult as I could not answer most of the questions and had to guess as I never revised again. But for the IS test, the post on the smb regarding the notes for the test was gone! So, I couldn't revise and I think I did poorly in the IS test.
Tommorow is my CA and IH pre-test, I do not know how to prepare for the CA, I wonder what questions will Mdm Lim ask, do I need to voice out my opinions or just simply describe an article from teh newspaper? I do not have time to revise for the IH pre-test even though I know that Mr Chua will kill me if I fail althougth it is not the actual test, but I guess I have no choice...
On Thursday, my group needs to present the IH assignment is the only ACE project which we can do for IH or maybe Mr Chua is lying. But we haven't done a single thing yet, I guess I shouldn't have chosen IH as a subject for ACE. Also, on the same day, my group need to present our music project. Mr Tan said that if we know what the meaning of the words ,such as prepared piano, in the powerpoint means, we might get an "A", if not we will FAIL.
Term 2 is ending soon and I haven't done much ACE projects, I have almost completed all the ACE points for maths(I think!), 3 or 4 ACE for chinese, none of IH and LA(I wonder if doing a blog for term 2 will earn me some ACE points like in term 1). Bye, I have to prepare for my CA now

Addicted to computer games
This days I don't feel the same anymore. I can't concentrate on my work and I keep thinking of the computer game "DotA". I think I am addicted to it. I play about 30 hours every week but my teacher told me to restrict myself to 5 hours a week. But still, I cannot control my self...
Even now, I am thinking about it. I think I will try to spend most of my computer time to study. Today, I had my maths test and I think I did very badly as I did not revise and was play DotA and now I don't hand in homework on time.
Whenever I am stressed, I play computer games to relax. But when I start playing, I can't stop! What should I do? Five hours a week is really too little for me, especially now as there are a lot of homework and tests and I come home at about 6.00pm everyday. Bye now, I have to do my homework!

IS test
I got 86% for my IS test! Most of my guess were right!(lucky me). But my IS teacher told us not to be happy yet as this is only 10% of the total score.

Multiple Intelligence Test
About a week ago, I took the multiple intelligence test, it is a test to find your learning style. There will be a lot of questions of different learning styles(such as linguistic and musical/rhythmic) as, and you add the number of points of questions with the same learning style and the learning style with most points is your learning style.(in the case of two learning style, both are taken to be your learning styles)
Personally, I feel that the multiple intelligence test is not very accurate as all my learning styles except logical intelligence, was about the same, even though I am weak in music and PE. Another reason is that the test is based on points, but some people do not know how many points to give to a question or maybe even anyhow give points to a question.

Life in Hwa Chong these days...
Life in Hwa Chong these few days are getting boring as we are getting our test results back and some lessons are quite boring. It was always homework, ACE and homework(including doing this blog). I hardly had any time to play and relax(I could hardly squeeze out time to do this blog!)
But luckily, the weekends are here soon and during next monday and tuesday, we do not have to go to school as we will be doing the home learning activity(maybe I will have some time to play then!). We had a pre-home learning activity which we had to write respect for others, kindness, compassion in reference to Flowers For Algernon(by the way, my teacher says that during this two weeks, we will only be during things about Flowers For Algernon). I think that Flowers For Algernon is quite boring as we had been doing it for about a month and we do not even know the ending of Flowers For Algernon as we did not have a complete version.
In addition to the boredom in Hwa Chong, some of the CIPs were canceled such as the BPGHS exchange programme. Also, these few days, we have to start meeting with our project mentor for our research studies.
About everyday I will return home at 6.30pm. Monday: MOP, Tuesday: Meet with project mentor and BPGHS exchange programme, Wednesday: Research Studies and CIP, Thursday: Third language Friday: Socrates Club. That's all for now, I still have school tommorow and I am going to sleep now.

About Myself
This is my fifth post now and I haven't introduced myself. I am currently studying in hwa chong institution and I am in secondary 1. My class is 1i2. Hwa Chong is a very old school with a rich history of 90+ years. Hwa Chong is very big and you can easily get lost. I got into Hwa Chong by DSA(maths)(I think).
My form teacher is Mdm Shirley Lim , she is very patient and kind even though she can be very fierce when she is angry. My favourite teacher so far is my music teacher ,Mr Tan B.B, he is very kind, funny, has weird videos and display picture on his facebook and is not fierce at all! I like friday the most as we have music lesson , is lesson, and my cca on friday which all are air-conditioned! We also do not hav reading period during fridays!
My primary school was Yew Tee Primary school. I am quite good at maths and I have participated in competitions and have some awards such as SMOPS platinum, honourable mention. I am weak in my english as I am from china. Thats all about myself, bye!

Tests, tests and tests
During these few weeks, everyday was like tests, tests and tests and I forgot to revise for all of them. For the maths test(which I did not know we were having), I was stuck on the first few questions(which were about real numbers, rational numbers, etc! Luckily for me, the rest of the questions were easy but there were still some which I did not know how to do. In the end, I got 90% and second in class(which is change from 87.5%). I was very happy as I passed the maths test.
Then, there was the chinese test which I thought I failed because I did not revise again. I did not know most of the idioms, I guessed for most of the questions and I almost did not have enough time to finish the comprehension open-ended part!. Lucky for me, I guessed most of the questions correctly and got 76% which was second in class again.Then, I failed my IH pre-test as I reversed the eastings and northlings and forgot about the evidence for the inferences.
About one week ago, I had my IS test which I didn't revise(again!) and I had to guess for most of the questions(again!) and I hope to pass it. I think that tommorow we will get our IS results!(I am scared that I fail).
Today, I had my IH, LSS and Japanese Beginner's Test. It was a tiring day as I only returned home at about 7.30pm. For the IH test, I did not revise(again!) and forgot the order of the eastings and northings for the grid reference(again!), I hope I pass it. For the LSS test, I did revise for some worksheets as I could not find them! I did not know the meaning of some words for the MCQ section and I guessed for most of the questions(again!), I and Ming Chin asked Dr Tan for the answers and I realised that I guessed correctly(again!). My CCA
About a week ago, I went to my CCA(Socrates club) for the first time. Firstly, we had an introduction to what socrates club was all about. They showed us the HCI socrates club website and their blog, etc. We introduced ourselves to everyone. We also had an ice breakers activity and it was quite fun. After that, we played whacko and it was funny as I keep sabotaging the seniors and they became the whacko. Then, we were broken into groups to plan for the maths festival, board games competition, etc. I liked the last part most, there was MCDONALDS for us to eat as the senior done well in the SYPF or something like that.
Actually, there was some CCAs which I wanted to go too. This is how I chose my CCAs: 1st choice: Socrates(which I thought that I must put as first choice as I was invited and that I like maths very much) 2nd choice: Robotics(which I was very interested in) 3rd Choice: Mediatech(So that I do not have to run the cross country(Gary, the iCouncil Chairman told me this)) 4th Choice: EC3(which I thought that I could not get in) 5th: Shooting(did not want a sport so I put shooting as 5th choice so that there was less choice of getting in) 6th: Scouts(did not want to go to this most).
This is the reason of the order of my CCAs: Socrates(I like maths very much), Robotics(very interested in it), Mediatech(for fun), EC3(about computers), Shooting(sport that has air-con as we needed to choose a sport and an uniformed group, Scouts(got television). If you have noticed, all my choices of CCAs all are air-conditioned(except scouts as all uniformed groups did not have air-con).I went for the trials for Robotics,Mediatech and EC3.
During the trial for robotics, we were divided into groups to build an indestructable and creative structure. We build a car which had a roller-coaster like seat belt for the "driver" so that the driver would not fall out. We also had an interview which they asked us questions such as why we wanted to join robotics and how would we contribute if we joined robotics. I was not prepared, so I did not really know what to say. Then, there was another "interview" which the seniors asked us some questions about robotics such as why a robot which had two motors(one on each side) and which was programmed to move straight, turned when it was tested.
During the 1st session of the trial for mediatech, I was introduced to mediatech and what mediatech was about it lasted for only 30mins and I went home after it. During the 2nd session of the trial for mediatech, we were interviewed which I didn't prepare for(again!). It was a very short interview and lasted for only a minute or two. They only asked us about our experiences of AV/Photography/Videography.
For the EC3 trial, we were given a test which tested our basic IT knowledge(such as the operating systems). We also had to do some tasks such as duplicating google, etc. Then, we were interviewed, it was like the format of robotics and I didn't prepare for it(again!).
Socrates club did not have a trial session or anything like that and I only found out that it was about maths recently. I do not regret joining Socrates Club as it is quite fun and the teachers are very friendly.

S1 Hwa Chong Orientation
Hi! A about 2 months ago was my 1st day in Hwa Chong, we were divided into groups and I was in group 16. We had buddies for each group(mine was Darryl and Justin). We learnt some cheers and we were told that there was a cheers competition on the 3rd day. We praticed all day long, some seniors came and talked to us about their experience of Hwa Chong and the seniors said something about the principal being like a big-size mario which they told us not to tell anyone as they will get scolded but I do not really care. On the 3rd day, it was the cheers competition! We cheered our loudest and we did 5 cheers in total which were the shan ge, go fight win, sexy cheer, countdown and rock you(which the seniors requested). We won the competition with the total of 6 flags(the maximum number of flags was 7). I cheered until I had a sore throat!
On the 4th day, we had our CCA orientation which we visited many different CCAs. All of them were very well prepared and each CCA wanted to attract people to join their CCA instead of other CCAs by saing bad things about the other CCAs such as the canoeing captain saying some digusting things about the guys in water polo to attract us to canoeing instead of water polo. The only few CCAs I like during the CCA orientation were: Robotics, Mediatech and EC3.
During these four days of orientation, I really enjoyed myself and knew that I was going to have a fun time in Hwa Chong!

YEAH!
ANY SWEAT?
NO SWEAT!CHICKEN FEET! HWA CHONG ALL THE WAY!
On the 3rd day, it was the cheers competition! We cheered our loudest and we did 5 cheers in total which were the shan ge, go fight win, sexy cheer, countdown and rock you(which the seniors requested). We won the competition with the total of 6 flags(the maximum number of flags was 7). I cheered until I had a sore throat!
On the 4th day, we had our CCA orientation which we visited many different CCAs. All of them were very well prepared and each CCA wanted to attract people to join their CCA instead of other CCAs by saing bad things about the other CCAs such as the canoeing captain saying some digusting things about the guys in water polo to attract us to canoeing instead of water polo. The only few CCAs I like during the CCA orientation were: Robotics, Mediatech and EC3.
During these four days of orientation, I really enjoyed myself and knew that I was going to have a fun time in Hwa Chong!

Dear Dr Nemur
I wuld like to run the irsk of becomning super smart for tow years instaed of living my persent live as it is becoz I raelly want to be smart so that I will have mroe fruends and peuple wuld not laff at me or stare at me becoz I am mentaly chalanged. I also want to change the way peuple looks at mentaly chalanged peuple so that peuple wuld not laugh at them.
